Volkswagen has released a new video about its Midsize SUV and in it they revealed details on power outputs.
The Teramont, the name widely believed to be used on new seven seater from VW, will be getting 280 hp out of the 3.6-liter V6, just like the Passat and the Touareg, which get 258 lb-ft and 266 lb-ft of torque, respectively.
To make 238 hp, meanwhile, it will use their ubiquitous 2.0-liter TSI unit. Interestingly, though, this will be Volkswagen of America’s second most powerful application of the engine (only beaten by the Golf R with 292hp). That’s probably not surprising, though, given the size of the thing.

Although the body is still hidden under camouflage, the video does reveal that the Teramont-or-whatever will be more than 5 meters long (about 16 and a half feet).
The Teramont-or-whatever is Volkswagen’s attempt to play to Americans’ taste for big family SUVs. It will seat seven, have lots of cargo space, and come with all-wheel-drive.
This is an important car for Volkswagen, which is trying to convince the American market that it’s a full-line manufacturer. With the Teramont-or-whatever, the Golf Alltrack, and the Tiguan LWB, Volkswagen will look to offer more and more four-wheel-drive cars.
